“Then David spoke to the men who stood by him, saying, “What shall be done for the man who kills this Philistine and takes away the reproach from Israel? For who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?”1 Samuel 17:26
In last week’s blog I mentioned that you might be standing before your Goliath today. Your giant might be your own family trying to get you to back down from what God has given you or what God has proclaimed over your life. Just like David’s brother in verse: “Now Eliab his oldest brother heard when he spoke to the men; and Eliab’s anger was aroused against David, and he said, “Why did you come down here? And with whom have you left those few sheep in the wilderness? I know your pride and the insolence of your heart, for you have come down to see the battle.”
David’s brother saw him as insignificant, but God chose him as the next king. If David allowed his brother’s comments to discourage and distract him, he would have never defeated Goliath. God prepared David in the field; by bringing a bear and a lion against his sheep. God saw the warrior in David because He knew that his heart was pure. Don’t ever think that you are insignificant to God, He knows everything about you.
We are sometimes the giant in our own lives, limiting what God has placed inside of us, because we are distracted by worldly mindsets and negative comments. Negative comments must motivate and push you into the spirit realm – will you allow God to show you the armies that is lined up on your behalf?
In 2 King 6 verse 16 – 17 we see Elisha speaking — “Don’t be afraid” the prophet answered “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” And Elisha prayed “O Lord, open his eyes so he may see.” and God opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of the fire all around Elisha. God’s army is standing at attention waiting for us to give the command. Are you confident in allowing God to use you as His vessel? Or has the battle already been lost, because of your lack of faith.
By facing your giant, you take back the power that he has over your life. The world sees God as a small thing, but the giants of the world can never stand against our God. Our God is all powerful and the universe is in His hands.
When the enemy tries to use intimidation, we use God’s word to enforce confidence and boldness. We are not immune to the attacks of the enemy, but by studying his tactics we can use this weapons against him and totally destroy him.
Prayer: Heavenly Father open our spiritual eyes to see the victory you have already given to us in Jesus name Amen.
